--- The second round submission due on June 7, 2010. ---

The Internet is becoming the global digital infrastructure, however,
its design still faces many challenges.  Many of these issues arose
due to the technology advances and drastic changes of the environment
which bring fundamental changes in the requirements. The Future
Internet has become the research theme for the global networking
community to creating a better digital environment for the future.

AsiaFI was established in 2008 for Future Internet research in Asia,
focusing on young researchers, especially those in the Asia Pacific
region, to be able to collaborate as we work toward this challenging
topic.  The AsiaFI summer and winter schools provide opportunities for
learning from world experts about leading-edge technical topics,
professional development (including sessions on research and
experimentation methodologies, writing and presentation skills, etc.),
and interpersonal networking.  The schools also offer an excellent
opportunity for young researchers to improve their cross-cultural
communication skills.

Attendees are mainly Ph.D. students working in networking, both
practice and theory.  Ambitious masters students who plan go on for
Ph.D.s and young researchers who have recently earned their Ph.D.s are
also welcomed.

In order to help those who may have passport and visa issues as well
as those who seek for fellowship, we have two deadlines for
submissions.

Date: Aug 24(Tue) through Aug 27(Fri)
Venue: Keio University, Kyoseikan (at Graduate School of Media
Design), Kohoku, Yokohama, JAPAN.
Registration fee:
20,000 JPY for general, 10,000 JPY for a full-time student
(note: 10,000 JPY is about 110 USD as of end of Feb. 2010)

Fellowship:
We will provide fellowship for best papers and for selected students
from developing countries; either full support or partial support.
The full support roughly covers airfare, room and board, and
registration fee, while the partial support covers only room and board
and registration fee.
We expect about 10 students to be rewarded but the exact number
depends on the available funding.
Students seeking for fellowship should submit a paper to the first
round submission.

Who should attend:
Ph.D. students working in one of the advanced technologies for the
Internet. Advanced master course students and those young researchers
who obtained the degree recently are more than welcomed.

Benefit for students:
You will be able to obtain supportive/productive comments and
suggestions by world-leading professors.  These professors usually
will not be involved in the students' Ph.D defense, allowing students
to interact freely, with fewer barriers. While we welcome quality
paper submission, work-in-progress or even work-to-be-done type of
presentations are welcome as well provided they are interesting.

Paper Submissions:

Topics to be covered: Any subject related to the Future Internet.

Presentations: We will select about 10 papers in the first round and
another several papers in the second round.  We will also select
others for the poster session.

Papers should be in the PDF format and submitted through the following
link:

(To create an account, fill your email address, check "I'm a new
user", and click "Sign in".  Your initial password will be sent to the
registered email address.)

A paper submission can be a full paper, a work-in-progress paper, or
an extended abstract paper.  The school committee welcome short papers
describing interesting on-going research.
Submissions can be up to 6 pages in length (but could be shorter
especially for work-in-progress and extended abstract papers),
in two-column 10pt format.  Please use the following LaTeX2e or MS
Word templates.

Paper authors are also encouraged to apply for the poster session
as well for further discussion on your research.

The proceedings will be available on the web (and no paper version
will be provided).  The AsiaFI Forum allows authors to retain
copyright of their submitted work to encourage early submission of
work.
